Project AAROGYA is based on a hub-and-scope model, implemented with the partnership of Citizens Foundation and in convergence with the District Health Department. The Dhandabar Health Care Centre, is a unique model of convergence where the Government has provided their premises to operate primary health centre, providing lab tests and medical amenities. This project caters all the 27 operational areas through the Mobile Health Unit which delivers preventive and curative health care facilities at their door-step. To spread awareness in the community, numerous awareness camps are conducted on Anaemia, TB, STI, HIV, Malaria and other specialized diseases. This project also includes activities like Eye Check-up, Covid Testing camps, etc.

Project MACE

Project MACE, which stands for Multi Activity Centre for the Elderly, is an eldercare project in partnership with SAMARTH and support of the District Administration Bokaro. This project aims to promote holistic care for elders by offering them a supportive and nurturing environment through Health Engagement & Mental Wellbeing activities. They provide benefits to the elderly in the area of health and medicine, regular expert talks and consultations, engagement activities like yoga sessions, bhagwad gita recitation and providing them with overall assistance for better accessibility to resources.

Currently there are more than 200+ members associated with the MACE project.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT- PROJECT JIVIKA

Project JIVIKA ensures socio-economic empowerment of women, implemented with the partnership of Drishtee Foundations. This project seeks to strengthen 150 SHGs/1500 women over the course of three years through various interventions that would assure multilevel livelihood impact on beneficiaries and their families in the trade of textile, mushroom, phenyl production, bamboo craft and other interventions ensuring a monthly earning of Rs. 3000- 5000.

The program aims to empower women and help them develop as the family’s breadwinners. We have gotten stronger with 152 SHGs with around 1400 females in FY- 23. This effort fully embodies SHG’s mission and assists with the primary purpose of being together, working together and growing together, they want to develop as a cinematic unit. The initiative additionally guarantees that the recipients’ capacity is increased by offering soft skill training and exposure visits. Those women formerly unable to leave their houses, are now manufacturing the goods and selling them on their own in the marketplaces. They are now capable of making decisions and starting their own businesses. They have made significant progress and are prepared to make even more as time goes on.

EMPHASIS ON EDUCATION- PROJECT PRERNA

With a vision to strengthen the secondary education, Vedanta ESL in partnership with Sarthak Sustainable Development Foundation envisages promoting the education for the youth through the project “PRERNA”. It is an educational initiative that aims to offer students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups in society to access quality education possibilities within ESL’s CSR operational region for their holistic development so they can achieve greater heights. Under this project we offer high-quality education to more than 700 children coaching through 15 Remedial Coaching, that are, 6 Prerna Tutorials for elementary to middle standard, 5 Prerna Centres for student studying in class 9th & 10th, 3 Prerna Drawing Centres and 1 Vedanta ESL Excel 30 for students preparing for various Govt. competitive exams such as, SSC, Bank PO, Railways etc. Sports competitions, art and craft contest, and inter center quizzes are just a few of the events being organized to help them grow and develop their skills and competitive spirit.

NAND GHAR- A FLAGSHIP PROGRAM OF VEDANTA GROUP

Nand Ghar is a flagship project of Vedanta resources and is in line with Hon. Prime Minister’s flagship schemes: Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Startup India by equipping Nand Ghars with televisions for e- learning, solar panels for reliable power, safe drinking water and empowering women through entrepreneurship.

The infrastructure is being utilized for providing facilities under the following verticals. For driving these verticals, we have American India Foundation (AIF) as our partner implementing agency.

Digital Education - Vedanta AAS Vidyalaya - New Initiative

Vedanta ESL recently launched its project Vedanta AAS Vidyalaya in support from District Administration and in partnership with AAS Vidyalaya through a tri-partnership MOU signing in presence of Mr. Kuldeep Choudhary, DC, Bokaro. This is a digital learning initiative to provide quality education to 500+ students in ESL CSR operational area through providing course curriculum of classes 6th to 10th for regular, NIOS & Dropout students. Alongside, 2 education cafes installed with laptops have opened in Bijulia & Chandankiyari High School to provide access to digital learning to the students enrolled. The cafés are functional now at both the location and enrolment of 400+ students have been done.

SKILL & CAPACITY BUILDING- PROJECT VEDANTA ESL SKILL SCHOOL

VEDANTA ESL SKILL SCHOOL, a Multi-trade residential training Centre of Excellence, is an ESL CSR initiative in partnership with SEEDS to reach out to 550 youths over a course of 3 years with an aim to provide them training & 70 % employment assuredly. The project aims to impart training through a short duration vocational program to the unemployed youth. The training program will equip the youths with necessary skills in accordance with industry standards, thereby engaging them in sustainable employment in an organized sector. The students are provided training in two trades namely, Solar PV Installer which is for 90 days and Sewing Machine Operator for 45 days. It is an NSDC Certified course that ensures a minimum salary ranging from Rs. 10000-15000 per month. Additionally, students are given basic knowledge about computer and soft skills training.

PROMOTING SPORTS- VEDANTA ESL ARCHERY ACADEMY

Jharkhand is known for its inherent and rich culture of Archery and is a popular traditional game. Vedanta ESL launched this project to nurture this inherent talent and initiated this project by spreading awareness through various campaigns in the nearby communities and successfully gathered children from those villages for the pilot run. Currently, Vedanta ESL Archery Academy supports the holistic development of 50 children by providing them access to National level coaches, modern equipment’s, wholesome nutrition, uniform and consistent guidance and support. Since the beginning of the project the archers has won many accolades in the District, State as well as National level tournaments. In this financial year 32 gold, 27 silver and 12 bronze medals were bagged. Additionally, Vedanta ESL Archery Academy organized two mega events namely, District Archery Tournament and Vedanta Challenge Inter-Academy Tournament in which the archers from Vedanta Archery Academy became the sole champions & displayed their excellent performances.

REJUVENATING AGRICULTURE- PROJECT WADI

Vedanta ESL Steel Limited has associated itself with NABARD’s flagship project WADI which is an orchard-based development project for Tribals, catering to 500 tribal farmers from 8 villages in Chas and Chandankiyari Blocks in Bokaro District in partnership with Gramin Seva Sang under its CSR initiative. Through this project, the farmers are provided with irrigation support to assists the farmers for development of Intercropping (seasonal vegetables and other crops) from the beginning of the project. Along with the orchard-based activities, financial assistance is provided for Agri allied activities such as animal husbandry and micro-enterprise development to cover landless population for better Income generation. The other components of the projects include arrangements for irrigation, land development, skill/capacity development of community, women folk, children, and health development.

EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERING

V FOR SOCIETY is an Employee Volunteering initiative of ESL CSR, is basically a work-place based initiative that provide employees with support and encouragement, so that they can volunteer to the community as an individual or as a group. This acts as a great way to empower employees to help the society, as they are engaged in charitable as well as community-improving initiatives.

In this FY 22-23, 38 events were organised such as Safety Trainings, Motivational Sessions, Teaching Sessions, Special Seminars, Special Day celebrations, etc., in which our employees volunteered for 400 man hours.

WATER AND SANITATION- PROJECT SWAJAL

Access to clean water is still one of the major reasons behind unsafe drinking water at rural areas. Project Swajal was initiated to cater to this issue which is designed to address the problem faced by the community of our operational villages through a variety of interventions including handpumps repairing, solar operated drinking water facility, transporting water on numerous social occasions and installation of water tap connection. The initiative also runs cleanliness campaigns with the goal of encouraging safer hygienic practices in the community.

COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT- PROJECT NIRMAAN

Infrastructure is one of the major areas through which it helps in meeting the needs of community and provides better facility and connectivity to the people residing in rural area. The Project NIRMAN focuses on various infrastructure development interventions such as road repairing, Pond Excavation, construction of ghat and changing Rooms, renovation of existing buildings etc. This project is a demand-based project which caters to all infrastructural requirements of the community. Apart from that, the government Aanganwadis are also being renovated under the Project.

VEDANTA COVID CARES FIELD HOSPITAL

Vedanta Covid Care Field Hospital was established in wake of Covid-19 Pandemic, which is a 100 bedded multispecialty hospital at Sector 5 Bokaro for the community. This hospital is well equipped with all the facilities including dedicated Medical Staff, ICU beds, oxygen cylinder, ventilator facility, Childcare Units and Vaccination center for Covid and provides all the free of cost medical services to Covid affected patients.

More than 3.8 lakhs people have been vaccinated at Vedanta Covid Care Field Hospital, which was recognized by the District Administration as the first vaccination centre of Jharkhand to vaccinate highest number of lives in the state.
