Qualification: B. Tech/B.E in Metallurgy/Chemical /Mechanical


Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Strategic & Operational Leadership
• Lead the entire coke oven plant operations, including coal handling, coke production and maintenance.
• Develop and implement production plans aligned with the company’s steel production targets.
• Ensure optimum utilization of resources (coal blend, energy, manpower, equipment).
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as coke yield, pushing frequency, oven temperature, and specific energy consumption.

2. Process & Production Management
• Oversee coal blending, charging, carbonization, and coke pushing operations.
• Ensure consistent coke quality (CSR, CRI, ash, moisture, size distribution).
• Optimize oven battery operations for maximum output and minimum downtime.
• Coordinate with blast furnace teams for coke quality requirements and supply schedules.

3. Maintenance & Reliability
• Ensure implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs for ovens, machines and material handling systems.
• Supervise refractory maintenance and oven health monitoring.

4. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
• Enforce strict safety standards for personnel and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations – especially emissions, water treatment, and solid waste disposal.
• Promote safety culture and training programs within the workforce.
• Implement pollution control measures, such as quenching water quality, and fugitive emission reduction.

5. People Management
• Identify training needs and build technical competency of the team.
• Promote discipline, teamwork, and accountability across shifts and sections.

6. Coordination & Communication
• Liaise with Raw Material, Blast Furnace, Power Plant, and Quality Control departments.
• Coordinate with logistics for coal receipt and coke dispatch.
• Prepare and present daily/weekly/monthly reports to senior management.

7. Cost Control & Optimization
• Monitor consumable usage (refractory, lubricants, energy).
• Implement cost reduction initiatives and process improvements.
• Manage budgeting, procurement, and inventory control for the plant.

8. Projects & Upgradation
• Participate in automation projects.
• Drive digitalization initiatives – like DCS, PLCs, data analytics, or predictive maintenance tools.
• Ensure timely project execution within cost and quality standards.

9. Quality Assurance
• Ensure adherence to ISO / OHSAS / EMS or other management systems.
• Implement statistical process control and root cause analysis for deviations.
• Coordinate with quality and commercial teams for continuous improvement.

10. Compliance & Reporting
• Maintain documentation and statutory records as per factory, pollution control, and safety norms.
• Interface with regulatory bodies during audits and inspections
